Andrea Brafford’s life is nearly perfect. A passionate marine biologist, happily married to Craig, the man she loves, recently moved into a home commensurate with their success to enjoy a life many others only dream about, in one of Houston’s most desirable suburbs. But only a few months later, a trial that dramatically polarizes their town names Craig Brafford as a defendant in the murder of his young wife, shattering the serenity of the peaceful community.
Andi’s name is on everyone’s lips, her relationships exposed and torn to shreds in a highly publicized case that has everyone’s eyes glued to the internet. Andrea’s life remains a mystery that investigators and public opinion equally fail to solve. Was she the happy, devoted wife she’d made everyone believe she was?
Only she can answer that question.
The best-selling author of Dawn Girl is back with a suspenseful, gripping psychological thriller. Fans of Celeste Ng, Alex Michaelides, and Liane Moriarty will enjoy The Girl You Killed, an addictive psychological thriller that will keep readers enthralled until the last page.
Dollycas’s Thoughts
Andrea Bradford is blissfully happy in her marriage. Her husband adores her, they have a beautiful home in a fantastic neighborhood and she just found out she is pregnant. The only thing she desires is a job, hopefully at her alma mater using her skills as a marine biologist.
Tragically, Andi’s life is cut short when she is murdered. Her husband Craig is the police’s prime suspect. The community quickly becomes invested in Andi’s life and death. Will the truth be revealed?
I have to start this review by saying I have to be careful because I don’t want to give anything away because WOW! This was a heck of a story.
The characters are solidly developed over the course of this story. It is impossible not to like Andi and become invested in her life. Craig on the other hand is the exact opposite. He starts out just fine but quickly turns into quite a scoundrel.
The author takes her time and knows how to build the tension slowly pulling the reader deeper and deeper into the intricate web of this psychological thriller. She manipulated the story and the characters in such an excellent way. Her detailed writing style lends well to a story like this. Craig was clearly driven. Andi seemed to be under his spell until it was too late. I liked that some chapters ended with some court testimony teasing us of what was to come. For me, that really ramped up the speed of my reading and one more chapter – itis. The book kept me up reading into the early morning hours because I just couldn’t put it down.
Ms. Wolfe has written a gripping, compelling, powerful story with surprising twists and turns. She took me on a wild wide and I enjoyed each and every page.
This is the first book I have read by this author but it won’t be the last. She appears to be a prolific writer so I have plenty of books to choose from.
An exciting thriller with solid character development I have to give The Girl You Killed my highest rating. Paradise.
