How My Film Festival Experience Inspired a Book

Book 10 of the Magical Mystery Book Club Series
Earlier this year, I went on an epic trip to a gorgeous ski town in the mountains of Utah. I was there for a very special occasion. My daughter is a movie producer, and one of her films was selected to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival! It’s the largest indie film festival in the United States. It was started by Robert Redford in the 1970s and remains a major event in the movie world. She invited me to attend, so, of course, I traveled to Park City, Utah, for the epic event.
There were 15,775 films submitted to Sundance this year, and only 151 were chosen to be shown. 25 films won awards, and … my daughter’s movie won an award! It was consequently picked up by a distribution company and will appear in select theaters next year.
Once I learned about the festival, I realized it would be an awesome place to set a Magical Mystery Book Club journey. How fun to be in a ski town hosting a major film festival! When I told my daughter that, she got me invited to the Red Carpet, backstage, and gave me a VIP ticket to the After Party. What a fantastic people-watching opportunity that was!
I was there along with Jennifer Lopez, Zach Braff, Chloe Sevigny, Elijah Wood, Sarah Jessica Parker, Glenn Close, Cynthia Erivo, Conan O’Brien, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Okay . . . I didn’t actually SEE any of them. LOL. But I did see pictures of them in some of the same places I visited. They were there, and so was I.
Puzzles and Premieres is the resulting book. You can expect a very fun time ahead for the book club gang as they travel into a cozy mystery book that is set at a film festival in a ski town.

I think I say this in every review for this series, but I love these books! To me, it is a unique concept for a paranormal cozy, yet it is fun and lighthearted.
If you haven’t read any of this series, I highly recommend starting with the first book. While each book can be read on its own, it makes more sense to follow the lives of the book club characters to gain a deeper understanding of them.
