We return to Hope’s Crossing with Lucy Drake. She has come back to take care of her the home left to her by her aunt. While excited to be back she is not excited to see Brendan Caine.  Brenden was married to Lucy’s best friend, Jessie, who recently passed away. They had a little thing before Brendan even met Jessie.  They both remember that steamy hot kiss and while Lucy has been an “aunt” to his kids, they only had to endure each other’s  presence on rare occasions.  Now she is back in Hope’s Crossing and that means trouble with a capital T for both of them.

I love this series!!

RaeAnne Thayne brings us such terrific characters. Characters that are real and flawed and have issues and in Hope’s Crossing things happen to bring the right people together and overcome any obstacle. Of course there are residents of the town the push and  sometimes shove people together so that can finally let down the walls they have built around their hearts and open their eyes and realize what or who is right in front of them. In this story two children and two little pups are key players. Lucy’s step sister also comes to Hope’s Crossing to shake things up a bit.

I have broke my rule about reading these books in order twice now and am glad I did. I also plan to catch up on the couple I have missed. I was so happy to learn that Christmas in Snowflake Canyon was not the last in the series. These stories have become my go to books when I just need to escape from everyday stress and relax and know there is going to be happy ending.

All of my visits to Hope’s Crossing have been wonderful and I hope I get to visit again very soon as I catch up on the ones I missed.  You can read them order but they do read well as stand alone too. I am really sorry to see this series end but it goes out on a great high note.

Dollycas’s Thoughts
I broke my own rule about reading series book in order but I so needed to read a Christmas story and this one just called out to me. In fact once I started reading I couldn’t stop.

As a person with a disability Thane’s stories just hit me right in the heart. All of her characters have their flaws and like Taryn in Woodrose Mountain there are people in this story dealing with physical disabilities. This time it is wounded veterans including Dylan Caine who was wounded in Afghanistan and is struggling with so much.

This story was just what I needed to read. So many characters went through transformations. Not only Gen and Dylan but a wondrous gift was given to a supporting character that brought tears to me eyes. Love can conquer anything and in this story it does. This author is excellent at developing her characters. The emerge and grow at a perfect pace. The reader can feel their struggles and their internal battles to change what they can and accept what they can’t.

While this is a Christmas story, don’t think you need to wait until next year to read it. There is still plenty of blustery weather left for you to curl up with it  this winter or it can help you cool off when the weather is warmer too. It is a feel good story for any time of year.

I understand this may be the last book in this series but because I broke my own rule it will not be my last trip to Hope’s Crossing. I will happily be visiting again soon when I read the stories I skipped.

Set in Hope’s Crossing, Colorado.  Claire Bradford is the owner of a successful bead shop. She is a single mom with two kids living a predictable life.  She has no time for romance. At least that is what she keeps telling herself. So why does her best friend’s younger brother Riley seem so darn sexy and hot? He has returned to be the the new chief of police of this boring little town when he was some big shot on the police force in California. It just doesn’t make sense.

A string of robberies leads to a tragic accident that forces Claire to accept help from her friends, even from Riley McKnight. The accident ends up affecting the whole town. Things get ugly when it is found teenagers are involved in the robberies and it starts to rip the town apart.

A mysterious “Angel of Hope” inspires a small group and then the whole town to plan an event to help bring everyone back together. A bit of romance also starts to blossom making for a very interesting summer.

Dollycas’s Thoughts
I was swept away by many things in this book. The friendships of the people who visit Claire’s shop, the long term relationships of the people of Hope’s Crossing, seeing someone you have known all your life differently after time has passed, and the effect the “Angel of Hope” has on this town.

If I was ever lucky enough to win the lottery or come into a great deal of money I would want to be just like the “Angel of Hope”, helping people anonymously with things they need. The way the angel inspired the people of Hope’s Crossing was really uplifting.

The characters in this story are so engaging and well developed. You want to be part of everything they are doing.

I haven’t read Harlequin in quite awhile because they were started to feel the same story just with different names but that is definitely not the case with this story. This book is about so much more than the romance. Claire needs to break out of a life she has trapped herself in. Riley has so many reasons for coming home and for staying away as long as he did. Claire’s mother has issues that need to be dealt with. Claire’s ex-husband and his new younger, pregnant wife live right in town. Thayne interweaves and blends all their lives together wonderfully along with many other residents of the town of Hope’s Crossing. I love the way she writes and her descriptions of people and places were a delight. I will be reviewing the next book in the series Woodrose Mountain later today.
