#Spotlight – #Giveaway – THE CASE OF THE MISSING MORRIS DANCER By Cathy Ace – Great Escapes Book Tour
THE CASE OF THE MISSING MORRIS DANCER
By Cathy Ace
The Case of the Missing Morris Dancer:
A cozy mystery set in Wales
(A WISE Enquiries Agency Mystery)
The Women of the WISE Enquiries Agency are back in a witty and intriguing new mystery.
The Anwen Morris Dancers are to play a pivotal role in the imminent nuptials of Henry, eighteenth Duke of Chellingworth. But it looks as though the wedding plans might go awry unless Mavis, Annie, Carol and Christine can help Althea, the Dowager Duchess, by finding a missing Morris man and a set of ancient and valuable artifacts in time for her son’s wedding.
Anwen-by-Wye might look like an idyllic Welsh village where family values reign and traditions still mean something in a modern world, but what will the WISE women find when they peer behind the respectable net curtains?
Praise for The Missing Morris Dancer
The characters are interesting as are the traditions and superstitions surrounding the wedding and the missing dancer…If you’re a fan of British mystery or Welsh mystery or mystery in a different setting, you will enjoy this tale.
~Christa Reads and Writes
I really enjoyed the team of women doing the investigating in this story. Their distinct personalities work well together, as each has her own strengths to bring to the group…
~The Book’s the Thing
About The Author –
Cathy Ace loves crime! It’s true – she discovered Nancy Drew in her local library, then found Agatha Christie on her Mum’s bookshelves, and she never looked back. Cathy happily admits that the characters she met between the book-covers as a child have influenced her writing. “Nancy Drew was plucky, strong and independent, and Agatha Christie’s puzzles engaged me every time. I love the sort of book that mixes intricate plotting with a dash of danger, and that’s what I’ve tried to create with my Cait Morgan Mystery Series. Beginning my new series, featuring the women of the WISE Enquiries Agency, I have been able to indulge my love of stately homes, village life and the interplay between characters that can take place in that sort of setting.”
Cathy Ace was born and raised in Swansea, South Wales, and worked in marketing communications for decades across Europe. Having migrated to Canada in 2000, she now lives in beautiful British Columbia, where her ever-supportive husband (and two chocolate Labradors) ensure she’s able to write full-time. Bestselling author Ace writes two series of mystery books: the Cait Morgan Mysteries, and the WISE Enquiries Agency Mysteries. Her fourth Cait Morgan Mystery, The Corpse with the Platinum Hair, won the 2015 Bony Blithe Award for Best Canadian Light Mystery.

My turn today on this fantastic tour!
The Ninth Life
by Clea Simon
The Ninth Life: A new cat mystery series
(A Blackie and Care Cat Mystery)
Severn House Publishers (March 1, 2016)
Hardcover: 224 pages
Introducing Blackie, an unusual feline hero, and his companion Care in the first of this dark new mystery series.
Three figures, shadowy against the light. That’s all I remember from my past life, as I am dragged, dripping and half-drowned, from the flood. My saviour, a strange, pink-haired girl, is little help. She can barely care for herself, let alone the boy she loves. And although she has sworn to avenge the murder of her mentor, she must first escape the clutches of drug dealers, murderers and thieves. I would repay her kindness if I could. But we are alone in this blighted city – and I am a cat.
The past is an enigma to Blackie, the voice of Clea Simon’s dark new mystery. Combining elements of feline fantasy and cozy whodunit, The Ninth Life introduces this unusual hero and his companion, Care: two small creatures in a nightmarish urban landscape, fighting for their lives, and for the lives and memories of those they love.
Advance praise for The Ninth Life:
Forget everything you think you know about ‘cat mysteries.’ The Ninth Life is a dark and gritty story of life on the streets, told from the unique point of view of a narrator who sees things humans can’t. Clea Simon has given us a window into a world of constant and surprising dangers, frustrations and almost unbearable tension, and it’s one I won’t soon forget.
–Joseph Finder, New York Times bestselling author of The Fixer and Suspicion
A tour de force of point of view – the talented Clea Simon flawlessly portrays a main character the likes of which we’ve never encountered! With skill and style and profound understanding, she entertains readers with an exciting, compelling, and utterly unique adventure.
–Hank Phillippi Ryan, Agatha, Anthony and Mary Higgins Clark Award winning author
The Ninth Life is a tour through a criminal wilderness of alleys and gutters, guided by a hunter as canny and fierce as they come. While Care is a smart, tough, and vulnerable young protagonist, narrator Blackie steals the limelight, showing us these dark places through his sharp feline eyes. A good noir tale will reveal a shadowy existence that parallels our own; Clea Simon goes many steps beyond, creating a terrific story that draws us in and makes us relate to a narrator whose life is a world away from our own.
–Agatha, Anthony and Macavity Award winner Dana Cameron
Praise for The Ninth Life from this tour:
This is a new series from Clea Simon, and new concept as well. This time around we get the story from the perspective of a cat….I truly enjoyed this book…
The Ninth Life defies simple genre classification. Clea Simon’s book is a gritty tale of the street, and what it can do to those without a lot of their own power. It just happens to be told from the point of view of a cat.
…the narration by Blackie the cat as he witnesses things humans can’t puts an especially unique and enjoyable twist on this tale (tail…) of “feline noir”.
~Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries and Meows
Ms. Simon does an excellent job introducing us to both primary characters, Blackie and Care, right from the start. I easily connected with both of them and worried about their safety as they conducted their investigation…
~Queen of All She Reads
Clea Simon has twisted my brain with this book…Brilliant Clea, just brilliant.
