Happy National Book Lovers Day!
We had a lot of fun around here last week. Our daughter-in-law is Korbyn’s daycare provider, and they are away on vacation, so Nana and Papa are on daycare duty. To help us out, Natalie came to stay for a few days. She took him for walks, fed him breakfast and lunch, played with him, put him down for naps he didn’t always take, and was on diaper duty unless they were number 2, enabling us to work. Yeah, right, Papa kept working; Nana took time off to play. Natalie went home to do things with her friends over the weekend, but she’ll be back on Tuesday to play some more. They are so cute together.
Also, last week Miss Athena turned 3. We will be celebrating when she returns from vacation.

Well, on Tuesday I went for my MRI. It was a long day because I needed to be sedated. We left here about 7:30 and got back home at 4:30. We stopped to pick up pizza, a tradition when we go that way; I was starving. I remember transferring to the MRI table and then waking up in the recovery room. No stress, I felt great. The rest of the week, I was dragging a bit. Not sure if it was from losing a day of my medications or if I was just tuckered out from the change in my schedule. The MRI showed no infection but some fluid that can be drained from the wound. Surprisingly, since Tuesday, the small pocket of fluid has disappeared, and even the wound is smaller. Now, I wait to hear from the surgeon. We have a virtual visit scheduled on the 14th. I hope and pray he can drain it if needed and close it up permanently. My job is to keep my balance and not fall or bang the elbow into anything until then.
Son #2 and his family made a trip to Tennessee to meet his in-laws for a quick family vacation last weekend. Thomas and Charlotte then traveled to Florida with their grandparents and great-grandparents. They will be there for a month. Son #2, his wife, and Athena will join them in about 2 weeks and enjoy some time there until they all return home. I already miss them like crazy.
With them traveling, Mr. Dollycas and I took over daycare duties for Korbyn on Monday and Tuesday. We had a blast. Mr. Dollycas worked both days. I was pretty distracted, but got done what I could when he was napping.
Natalie is playing in a softball tournament this weekend, but it was a little far away for us, so again we are watching the live streams. As I write this on Saturday afternoon, they have just played their 2nd game. It was a short game. Every girl on her team had hit after hit, and her team was quickly up 19-0. Natalie pitched and held the other team off. A relief pitcher came in, and errors in the outfield brought the final score to 20-5. She has another game later today, and that outcome will set up play tomorrow.
We were dealing with high temperatures again this past week, with the added bonus of smoke from the Canadian wildfires. We spent many hours in the Hazardous Range. Sometimes it was hard to see too far down the block. The air quality was better on Friday evening and the weekend, but we are still under air quality alerts, with Monday being another high alert day. While dealing with the smoke is unhealthy and a hindrance, it is nothing like what our friends to the north are facing. I pray for everyone dealing with the fires, the lost loved ones, and the loss of property.
