HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

It was a quiet week this week. By Tuesday I was off the cold medicine and feeling better.  I have continued to work on changing my blog theme and had a huge A-HA moment this week that gives me hope that I will actually be able to do this. I think I had decided on a background image too, but truthfully that is the easiest thing to change 🙂 I also did Son #2’s taxes yesterday and Daughter #1’s are waiting on my desk. Daughter #2 does her own and Mr. Dollycas does ours so my work is almost done.

New Office Mates

I have two new friends sharing my office space. This is big because I won’t even go into the reptile house at the zoo. At first, they kinda creeped me out but we have come to an understanding, they stay on their side of the glass and I stay on mine. Bearded Lizards, Girras and Jagres belong to Son #2 and his girlfriend, I just had space for their habitat until they move into a bigger place. Mr. Dollycas is much more hands-on than me, he takes them out and they sit on his chest. They are really active in the morning and fun to watch. I have no desire to touch them though. The dogs are my usual company during the day but they need to go outside several times. These new pets are no work at all at least for me, so until their new spot is ready they can be my office mates.

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

I’M SICK

Whatta week. I woke up Tuesday feeling a cold coming on. By the time I went to bed the head cold was in full swing. Getting up on Wednesday was a challenge, my teeth hurt so bad, it was just crazy. I self-diagnosed a sinus infection and DayQuil and NyQuil quickly became my best friends. The medication allowed me to continue working but messed up my nightly reading. On Friday afternoon I finally threw in the towel, took the meds and went to bed. I woke up a few hours later to find Son #2 making tomato soup and grilled cheese for supper. The rest helped and I felt good enough to at least see grands Thomas and Charlotte, not getting too close to pass this crud on. But it was soon back to the bedroom for me. I finally finished a book I was reading before taking the NyQuil and going to sleep.

As I type this on Saturday, I will get this post made and did my other work needed but I am looking forward to my head hitting the pillow again soon. I am hoping this bug runs its course quickly. Then again it has been snowing all week so I wouldn’t want to go outside anyway 🙂

Under Construction – NOT!

I did mention last week I was working on updating my blog theme. That has turned out to be more complicated than I first imagined. I know I need to have a clear head to understand and set everything up correctly so I am putting that project on hold for now. Stay tuned it should look great when I get it the way I want it.

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

Winter has broken out in full force here in Wisconsin. We were able to go to my mother-in-law’s home last Sunday to watch that heart-pounding Packer win but it was snowing again by the time we left for home. Friday night into Saturday morning another nice storm blew through with more expected throughout the week. For me, the weather is best dealt with by staying inside reading and working on my blog and book tours, while everyone else in the family ventures out in the elements 🙂

Under Construction

One of the things I am working on is updating my blog theme. The theme I have been using with no longer be supported soon. Thankfully I have a friend that pointed me in the right direction for a new one, change is hard and I have been afraid to pull the trigger. Activated the new theme is the small step, after that, I have to get everything in the right place in each of the columns, and make sure I don’t lose anything.

Please bear with me as I get everything just right.

~Lori

Day 2 – Teresa O. (Nebraska)

Day 3 – Amy D. (West Virginia)

Day 4 – Libby D. (Florida)

Day 5 – Kay G. (Arkansas)

A Very Special Birthday!

The Birthday Boy

When Son #2 and his girlfriend blessed our lives with Charlotte back in August we also received the treat of a Bonus Grandson in her brother Thomas. Over the past couple of years that little boy quickly found a way into all of our hearts. He is such a cutie and so much fun.

Friday night we traveled north to Appleton to celebrate his birthday and meet more of his mom’s family. We started at the FUNSET BOULEVARD FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT CENTER where all the kids, big and little had a great time. After that, we hit the local Denny’s for a little late-night breakfast/dinner. While we were eating we noticed the snowflakes start to fly.

WINTER UGH!

It sure has been a crazy winter, snow for Halloween, a brown Thanksgiving and Christmas, but this weekend Mother Nature has decided to give us a good dose. We had seen reports about a coming storm and on our way to Appleton, there were road signs flashing a Winter Storm Warning starting Saturday at 3 p.m. until Sunday at 6 a.m. No mention of a Friday night preview. We thought we were safe for a little birthday celebration, but as I said the snow started to fall while we were eating. By the time we headed out for the hour trip home, it had really picked up.

Everyone was taking it slow, a few semis flew passed us but one in front of us must have been empty because he was driving with the 4 – ways on and barely went over 40 MPH. One car that buzzed by was in the ditch a few miles up. So we took our time –  the 1-hour trip home took about 2 hours and we all arrived home safely, where we proceeded to have a huge slumber party as Daughter #1 decided to stop here and stay overnight with the boys rather than braving any more time on the road. Natalie was already here for the weekend so the house was full and I loved it.

Daughter #1 and the boys left yesterday at about 1 p.m.to beat the next snowstorm headed this way. As I type this late Saturday I have not seen any snow yet and round two has been downgraded a bit but you never know how the wind will blow and just how much snow Mother Nature will deliver.  We have plans to go to my Mothers-in-Law’s later today to watch the Packer game so I hope she doesn’t drop too much!

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

Last week was a big week around here even though there were no tours. Great Escapes Book Tours took its holiday break so we could all concentrate on our families and rejuvenate a bit. Of course, we still had to post on our blogs and for me, that meant my BLOGOVERSARY! I did a little blog maintenance too and added all my 2019 Reads to the State Pages listed under the Literary Escapes Tab. I also completed all of my Reading Challenges for 2019.

Family Christmas

PAPALast Sunday we gathered at Daughter #1’s home to celebrate our family Christmas. As we were loading the van it was clear Santa, Nana, and Papa went a little overboard. When everyone arrived and the presents were unloaded by all, it looked like Santa’s Sleigh had exploded. But everyone had fun and was very happy with their gifts. I mean, this only happens once a year, right, so we tend to spoil those we love.  The kids also spoiled us. Mr. Dollycas received a treasure, a Packer Helmet signed by Jerry Kramer, Amand Green, Gilbert Brown, and Santana Dotson along with a picture with the retired players holding our youngest grandchildren. To say he was floored is an understatement.  I received some wonderful presents too.

BLOGOVERSARY

BLOGOVERSARY On December 31 I celebrated my 11th Blogoversary.  The giveaways actually started the day before. I was thrilled to have Kensington Books join me again in the celebration. They provided books for three days of giveaways. I cleared a couple of shelves of books here too for the other 3 days of giveaways. You can still enter! The giveaways each ran a week and will be ending soon so don’t miss out. Just click the links below in the Weekly Rewind.

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

Happy Holidays!

I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season.

Today we will be at Daughter #1’s home for our family Christmas.

On Christmas Day we traveled to our nephew’s home for the Caswell Family Christmas. I love it when we all get together, we have such a good time. The adults catching up with each other and the kids playing with cousins they don’t see often enough. The adults also had fun playing Sh*t on Your Neighbor and the LRC Dice game. So much fun that family game nights were discussed and we will be playing games today too like we used to do years ago. Old traditions coming back again. I love it.

Part of the tradition at the Caswell Family Christmas is taking family pictures. Last year we missed out because Mr. Dollycas was in the hospital. It is still hard without Kris in the picture but I make a little adjustment to ease my heart.

As you can see Kaden wasn’t having it. He took such a good picture with his family but I didn’t see this attitude shot until it was too late.

Daughter #1’s Family with G.G. (Great Grandma)

Maybe we can photoshop one into the other 🙂

Love You, Kristopher Scot

My family is my everything and days like this bring me so much joy!

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

He’s Seven!!!

Grandson Remington turned SEVEN on Friday and we celebrated with a night of pizza, bowling, arcade games and cake!

Okay, so I did actually bowl but tried to give the grands a little input which of course wasn’t followed but we sure had fun. My new phone came in handy as I took a bunch of pictures. Now I just need to find out how to bulk upload to them to the computer to delete the duplicate pictures and share them on Facebook in an album. I love the LIVE feature because the photos are really mini-videos and you can upload the perfect part. I am going to have fun learning all the features. What I really love it that even with my shaky hands there wasn’t a blurry one in the bunch.

Another Great Escapes Year In The Books

I am also getting ready to celebrate the holidays. The last Great Escapes Book Tour of 2019 wrapped up yesterday. We did 181 tours this year. So many wonderful books. I am blessed to work with a fantastic group of bloggers to promote books for some truly wonderful authors. We have already booked 20+ tours for 2020. January is filled and February will be filled soon in the new year. I am so excited for 2020 and all the books readers will be able to escape into. If you would like to book a tour or join the host list just let me know!

My BLOGOVERSARY is also coming up! Watch for giveaways coming soon!

How was your week? Are you ready for Christmas?

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

New Phone

phoneChange is hard for everyone. This week we made the decision to get rid of our landline in the new year. Since my son, Kris passed away his iPhone had been here at the house. A couple of years ago Mr. Dollycas upgraded it to an iPhone 7 and it was mostly used by our grandson to watch videos when he was here. About a year ago I started using it myself for social media and games. Lately, I have been using it for calls too. A few people were shocked because they had the number saved in their phones as Kris’. Hopefully, we are beyond that, but family if you see his name pop up on your phone, that is just me. I too wish he was the one calling. I feel connected to him keeping his number.

So yesterday Mr. Dollycas and Daughter #2 decided it was time for an upgrade again. They worked yesterday on transferring stuff from the old phone to the new. Today I will have to get acclimated to it and its new features. The first thing I noticed is that is doesn’t have a home key. This should be fun 😯

How was your week?

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!

My baby is now 27.

After a relatively quiet Thanksgiving. (I stayed off the computer all day!) Daughter #1 arrived with the boys on Friday to help celebrate Son #2’s birthday and spend a little time with us. Dinner was catered by Culvers 🙂 and we girls watched a movie, A Bad Mom’s Christmas. Then because Daughter #1 had to work this weekend and their dad was out hunting the boys stayed with us. Kaden was happy to have time to play FortNite and Remi happy with his YouTube Videos. Truthfully we always have fun when the grandkids are here. They will be headed home later today and the quiet will be nice for a while but I will miss them as soon as they are out the door.

Because they were here my online Christmas shopping was a bit curtailed but tomorrow is Cyber Monday so I hope to take care of a major portion then. How are you doing with your shopping?
